The HID pivCLASS RK40 Wall Switch with Keypad Reader is designed for organizations requiring enhanced identity verification in FIPS 201 "Controlled" access areas. Featuring a standard wall switch form factor with an integrated keypad, the RK40 supports multi-factor authentication by combining contactless smart card credentials with PIN verification, making it ideal for government, military, and other high-security facilities.
When used with the HID pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM) or pivCLASS Embedded Authentication, the RK40 supports any PIV-based credential with a contactless interface and Card Authentication Key (CAK) certificate. The integrated keypad allows users to enter a personal identification number (PIN), which is verified by the access control panel or door controller rather than on the card, providing an additional layer of security for sensitive access points.
In addition to supporting FIPS 201 credentials, the HID pivCLASS RK40 is compatible with several legacy and non-FIPS credential technologies, including iCLASS®, iCLASS SE®, Seos®, and HID Prox®. The reader is TAA Certified and listed on the FICAM Approved Products List (APL), making it well suited for federal agencies and organizations requiring compliance with government security standards while maintaining compatibility with existing credential infrastructures.
